Professional background
Tereza Peneva
Tereza Peneva is a conservator-restorer and software developer based in Switzerland. Her professional background combines formal training in conservation-restoration, practical museum experience with several object groups, and long-term digital work with interfaces, information structures, and documentation logic.
She completed her Master degree in conservation-restoration at the National Academy of Arts in Sofia, Bulgaria. Her academic and practical training included paintings, icons, wall paintings, historical objects, and archaeological materials. She later continued her training in textile conservation in Vienna and completed further education in preventive conservation for ethnographic collections in Antwerp.
During her work at the Regional History Museum Sofia, she worked with historical and archaeological objects from different material groups, including ceramics, glass, textiles, leather, metal, and organic materials. Her tasks included condition assessment, conservation treatment, treatment documentation, preparation of objects for transport, exhibition and storage, and work related to archaeological finds.
After her museum work, she continued to take on project-based conservation work, including freelance collaboration and smaller commissions. In parallel, she earned her living for several years as a software developer. This digital work strengthened her understanding of structured information, user-facing systems, data logic, and sustainable documentation processes.
CERES brings these experiences together. The initiative is not intended as a substitute for conservation practice, but as a way to examine how conservation documentation can better preserve evidence, professional reasoning, material context, and institutional memory over time.
